News: The 2021 Mountain Waste Survey
The 2021 Mountain Waste Survey
While over 1.1 billion people around the world live in mountain regions, and millions more visit mountains every day, there is still very little information about waste and litter in mountains.
The 2021 Mountain Waste Survey is designed to plug this info gap, by gathering information from mountain enthusiasts from around the world.
The survey is designed by GRID-Arendal, an environmental foundation based in Norway, in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Mountain Research Initiative (MRI), the International Federation of Mountain Guides Associations (IFMGA), the International Climbing and Mountaineering Federation (UIAA), the Kilian Jornet Foundation, the Union of International Mountain Leader Associations (UIMLA), and the Secretariat of the Basel, Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions (BRS).
