At an altitude of 4268 Mtrs, Milam glacier is 27 Kms long and the largest in Kumaon region. Milam village which lies near the glacier is one of the highest villages in the Himalayan Ranges. It is located on old trade route to Tiber. Rich in handicraft and traditional folklore this area is relatively unexplored and retains the cultural traditions of the Kumaon.

MILAM GLACIER TREK BRIEF ITINERARY

 

Day 01: Arrive Delhi and transfer to Hotel for overnight.

Day 02: Drive to Almora (379 Kms) 

Day 03: Drive to Munsiyari (245 Kms/ 2290 Mtrs)

Day 04: Munsiyari - Lilam (1852mts.) 12kms / 5hrs Tents

Drive from Munsiyari to road end then trek to Lilam village. A walk along to Gori river with Quir-gemia and Sai-polo villages on the left banks, one reaches the villages of Lilam. Overnight in tents.

Day 05: Lilam - Bogudiyar (2450mts.) 14kms / 6hrs Tents

Trek from Lilam to Bogudiyar to arrive by evening. In the thick forest of Uttes After a steep uphill climb one reaches Bogudiyar, where the Poting rivulet meets Gori River. overnight in tents

Day 06: Bogidiyar - Rilkot(3200mts) 14kms / 6hrs Tents

Trek from Bogidiyar to Rilkot .It is situated above the river and one can visit ruins of old Rilkot. Overnight in tents. 

Day 07: Rilkot - Milam Village (3434mts.) 15 kms / 6hrs Tents

Trek from Rilkot to Milam to arrive by evening. One gets the view of Martoli peak soon after Rilkot and after crossing the bridge at Burfu the trek is on the left bank of the Gori river and views include that of Longstaff Col. The Eastern and main peaks of Nanda Devi Sanctuary and the Har Deval peak. Overnight in tents/ local village house.

Day 08:  Milam Village - Milam Glacier (3600mts) -Burfu Village 16kms / 8hrs Tents

Trek from Milam village to Milam glacier and back to Milam village Trek brings one to the Milam glacier with various glaciers feeding the main one from different valleys. After lunch trek to Burfu village. Overnight in tents/local village house.

Day 09: Burfu Village – Nahar Devi 14kms / 6hrs Tents

Trek back to Rilkot from Milam village overnight in tents.

Day 10: Nahar Devi - Lilam 19kms / 7hrs Tents

Trek from Rilkot to Bugdiyar to arrive by evening. Overnight in tents.

Day 11: Lilam - Munsiyari (2290mts) 12kms / 5hrs Tents

Trek from Lilam to Munsiyari to arrive by afternoon. Dinner and overnight in hotel.

Day 12: Drive to Almora (245 Kms)

Day 13: Drive to Delhi (379 Kms) and transfer to Hotel.

Day 14: Depart Delhi or optional Delhi sightseeing, visit Red Fort, India Gate, President House and later board the flight to onward destination
